One of my favorite thing about the 90's the all the one-hit wonders. "Summertime" by The Sundays was such a catchy tune back in the day. I bought their album and quickly discovered it was the only good song. Haha. Summertime is a perfect song for the start summer! " & it's you & me in the summertime. We'll be hand in hand down in the park. With a squeeze & a sigh & that twinkle in your eye & all the sunshine banishes the dark".
Working from home full-time I have appreciated the nuances of transitioning from season to season. In the morning when I start work it's still freezing so I have layers on / windows shut. By lunch I'm running around in a tank and opening all the windows to enjoy fresh air. I'm also so excited to see so many trees and flowers in bloom! (Sans the pollen covering my black car, meh!). Summer is a great season and I made a little summer bucket list to ensure I appreciate it in all of it's glory.
May was an awesome month - I got really accountable about nutrition and stepping up my game in class and at the gym. I feel stronger than I have in a long while and I need to capitalize on these feelings! On a weight front I hit a huge milestone on the scale but was annoyed with what I saw in the mirror and almost didn't celebrate with a picture. Alas, my friends convinced me that feeling bloated isn't a good enough reason not to celebrate. So, since September 2015 I have officially lost 200 pounds. These are my fabulous friends Brittany and Kaylie (they're sisters) and combined they weigh about 200 pounds soaking wet. :). Crazy visual huh?!?!
I decided celebrations capture a moment in time and when I hit my goal weight I will look back and be glad I captured that snapshot! :)
Given June is nearly over and I forgot to share my June goals! I decided on one nutrition, one strength and one mental goal.
Nutrition: Focus on PROTEIN! More about this in another blog about food but the focus for the month is on making smart choices that will keep me full and fueled.
Strength: Push myself to modify less in TRX and increase my weights at the gym.
Mental: Accept all the moments where "It Ain't Me" as a redirection towards something meant for me. :)
I'd say I'm definitely owning the first two - the third is just so tough sometimes. You see something (someone) that seems like such a good fit and for one reason or another it isn't. You didn't have all the facts, you didn't take into account XYZ....for whatever reason it's a "no" and man, those "no's" add up and start to take a toll on your sanity.
A quote I'm trying to embrace:
Wish me luck owning the next 2 weeks!
